DIBATTISTA LISO piano duoThe Dibattista-Liso Piano Duo (Gemma Dibattista – Marilena Liso) has captured the attention of audiences and critics for the exemplary quality of their harmony. Both graduates with distinction in Piano at the “Niccolò Piccinni” Conservatoire of Music (Bari), after venturing in solo projects, they formed a stable piano duo in 1987.
Firmly established as a union of strong musical character, the duo soon won numerous musical competitions in the short span of a few months, such as:
- '87 Stresa International Competition (1st prize)
- '87 “A. Longo” National Competition - Torre Orsaia (“Primo Premio Assoluto” - outright 1st prize)
- '87 Bardolino International Competition ( 1°.premio assoluto.)
- '89 Lamezia Terme “AMA” National Competition (1st prize)
The duo has taken master classes in piano/pianistic interpretation with the most prestigious names in the international scene such as P. Badura-Skoda, F. Zadra, M. Marvulli, S. Fiorentino and A. Lonquich.The Dibattista-Liso piano duo performs in Italy and abroad for several prestigious music associations receiving positive reception from audiences and critics which have highlighted "a deep self-confidence  and an interesting versatility of interpretation" and "a remarkable ability to communicate emotions through a careful and philological musical research combined with spontaneity and improvisation".The duo has an intense concert activity in "four hands", "Two Pianos" and "Two Pianos and Orchestra" formations, with a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music .Ricentely the duo had had  brilliants performances in Moscow  for Russian Federation of Italian Arts and in Izmir  for Yasar University, in Sevilla for Conservatorio Superior M. Castillo. In 2013 the duo has recorded a CD titled “ dance and impressionism in compositions for piano four hands  edit by Silta Records.

Idée Fixe ensemble





The ensemble’s main artistic goal is the dissemination of contemporary music creation. It focuses on music written in the 20th & 21st century, seeking answers to questions concerning  the names and the identity of this repertoire, the subtle silences, the unexpected influences, the deviations, the deletions and the ramifications of material which is still open and evolving.
Based in Thessaloniki (Greece) on a core formation of soloists specialized in new music, shaping a flexible musical ensemble of any needed size. From promoting works by Greek composers to blending the arts (music and dance, music and literature),the musicians of the ensemble attempt to rediscover the sound as body, thought and feeling, imagination and memory.
The ensemble performs at prestigious concert and art venues, as well as in major international festivals in Greece and abroad, forging relationships with important artists and cultural institutions in order to secure the preconditions for effective actions, collaborations and discoveries through music creation. 
Many distinguished contemporary composers have dedicated some of their works to the ensemble and they performed their world premieres.The ensemble has already many appearances, some of those were at Harmos festival(Portugal), Goldsmith University- Russian Center of Music in London and Huddersfield University (U.K) Guarnerius Art Center (Serbia),Concerti del Chiostro-(Italy),Instanbul University, Yasar University & Klasik Keyifler Festival(Turkey) Musica Polonica Nova Festival(Poland),Synthermia International Music Festival & Competition of Composition(Greece)State Museum of Contemporary Art(Greece),KOTH underground festival (Greece),Greek Composers Union concert series/Athens(Greece),Yannis Papaioannou International Music Festival(Greece)etc. Since 2004 is “ensemble in Residence” in the Municipal Conservatory of Thermi in Greece. In 2013 the ensemble was ensemble in Residence of the Megaron Concert Hall in Thessaloniki(Greece).The ensemble has performed with the conductors of Vladimiros Simeonidis, Miltos Logiadis,  Dimitris Dimopoulos, Alexander Myrat and Theodore Antoniou.




Composer in Residency

Riccardo Vaglini


Riccardo Vaglini (Pisa, Italy 1965). Italian composer and performer, he studied piano with Luisagrazia Caldi, composition with Gaetano Giani-Luporini, Giuseppe Giuliano and Giacomo Manzoni. From 1988 to 1994 he attended the Darmstadt Ferienkurse getting two scholarships. In 1995 he was composer-in-residence in MM&T in Milan. Since 1993 he teaches composition, actually at the Conservatory of Venice. From 1994 to 2003 he was artistic director of ArsenaleMusica in Pisa. In 1998 he founded, with composers Andrea Nicoli and Riccardo Dapelo, ArsPublica Editions, with which by then publish their work. He has given lectures and seminars for New York University, Toho Gakuen School and founding JML Tokyo , Conservatories of Palermo, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Strasbourg, Agimus, Guggenheim and Ateneo Veneto in Venice , the Italian Cultural Institutes of Thessaloniki, Strasbourg, Athens. In 2012 he was Visiting Professor in Melbourne for many seminars at the Victoria University of Arts and Monash University and for new premieres: Radio Exarcheia, with artist Tom Nicholson, and Inventario, with The Astra Choir. Since 2008 he holds master's degree in composition for Kairos in Camino al Tagliamento (Udine), where he directs, with Francis Zorzini , the festival Camino Contro Corrente. In 2009 he founded, together with his own composition students, Collettivo Rituale, a group for research and diffusion of the Fluxus repertoire,  with which he created the modern premiere of two historical works by Giancarlo Cardini and Giuseppe Chiari at the Venice Biennale Musica 2011.
